Vaccine requirement ends March 1, 2022

Covid-19 Protocols And Changes To Vaccination Requirements

On February 14, 2022, the Provincial Government made an announcement regarding further easing of public health measures, including lifting vaccine requirements for indoor recreational and fitness settings.

We are eager to welcome back more members, families, and participants.

What does this mean for your Y?

Starting March 1, members and visitors will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination to enter our facility.

Members are still required to scan their membership card upon entry. Visitors are still required to show government issued photo ID to enter the facility.

Capacity limits in our Health, Fitness & Aquatics facility will remain in place until further notice to ensure physical distancing can be maintained.

Some programs and classes will continue to require booking in advance. Find our schedule here — programs marked with an asterisk (*) are drop-in, otherwise activities require booking in Active Net.

Reminder of Continued COVID protocols:

  • Masks are required for individuals 2 years of age and older while in our Y facility except when actively engaged in high-intensity physical activity. Masks are required when participating in activities where physical distancing is not continuous (i.e., Hoops Shoot Around, Family Fun, Pickle Ball).
  • Members and guests are required to complete our Health Screening Tool. This can be done as you enter the North entrance doors or in advance using Ontario’s online self-screening tool found here.
  • Please continue to maintain a 2m distance from others and follow the directional signage and floor stickers to help maintain physical distance.
  • Safety protocols must be followed in the change rooms, including wearing a mask (except when showering), maintaining physical distancing and cleaning surfaces after use.

The health, safety, and well-being of our staff, volunteers, members, visitors and community is always our top priority. To learn more about how the Y is creating a safe space for you, visit ymcaowensound.on.ca/covid-19.

Thank you for your continued support of our YMCA. We hope to see you at the Y soon!
