The YMCA’s Statement on International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination 2024

Thursday, March 21, 2024.

At the YMCA, we believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every individual. We recognize the richness that we each bring to our communities and the strength that comes from
understanding, respecting, and valuing one another.

The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce joins the global community in observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. On this important occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a world where diversity is celebrated, inclusion is embraced, and racial discrimination has no place.

Today, as we stand united with people around the world, we acknowledge the importance of confronting and dismantling the systems and attitudes that perpetuate racial discrimination.

By heeding the calls to action from those who have been harmed by racism, including Black,
Indigenous, and racialized communities, we can contribute to a world where everyone is
treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.

Let us use this day to reiterate our dedication to promoting a world where everyone can
shine within our YMCA community and beyond. By standing together against racial
discrimination, we can build a more just world.
