As you are aware, a Province-wide shutdown has been announced.
HEALTH, FITNESS AND AQUATICS
Unfortunately, our Health, Fitness and Aquatics facility is required to temporarily close during the Province-wide shutdown period starting April 3, 2021, and this is expected to last for four weeks, until May 1, 2021.
While it is disappointing to be temporarily closing our facility again, we are hopeful that this upcoming shutdown will prove successful at reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our communities and the province.
Reminder: Our facility is also closed April 2nd for Good Friday.
Membership Fees
Memberships will be put on hold for the shutdown and will automatically re-start when the shutdown is over. Membership fees will be automatically suspended effective April 2 and will re-start upon cessation of our closure. Members will only pay for the time the Y is open. If you have paid for an annual membership, your membership will be extended.
Registered Programs
Thank you to our members who registered for Spring programs with our YMCA. Unfortunately, the closure of our facility means that we must postpone the start of swim lessons, youth awareness courses, Kung Fu, and other registered programs. Staff will continue to monitor the situation and will share updates with members as soon as possible.
Advanced Aquatics and First Aid/CPR-AED programs will be rescheduled upon re-opening.
Facebook Member Group
We understand this new closure will have a big impact on your health and daily routines. If you haven’t joined our Facebook Member Group yet, now is a great time to start! Work out with your favourite YMCA instructors as they host live and recorded fitness classes including Bootcamp, Core, Tabata, W.O.W., and Yoga. If you haven’t tried our fitness classes at the facility, this is a great opportunity to try them in the comfort of your home!
Thank You for Your Support
As always, your continued financial support through donations is greatly appreciated and enables us to find new ways to support our communities during the pandemic. Our community needs our YMCA, and our YMCA needs our community.
The Y is a registered charity and donations over $25 will be issued a tax receipt.
Due to challenges from the current shutdown, it would be very helpful for donations to be made on our web site, using the Donate Now button.
Thank you for your continued support!
SPRING BREAK CAMP
As a result of the required shutdown, we will not be able to run our April Spring Break Camp. We hope that the required shutdown allows us to safely run camps in the future, and we are optimistically planning for our Summer Camps.
CHILD CARE
Before and After School Programs will remain open as long as schools remain open for in-person learning.
Early Learning Child Care will remain open subject to COVID-19 protocols as determined by Public Health and government officials.
COMMUNITY INITIATIVES, SETTLEMENT AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
All Community Initiatives, Settlement Services and Employment Services will continue to be available remotely for ongoing community support.
Individuals requiring services may contact staff via the following methods:
Community Initiatives: 519-371-9230 Ext 5
Settlement Services: 519-371-9222 Ext 6
