Opportunities to Give

Help Us Make a Difference

Volunteer Opportunities

Whether you're a student, recently retired, or somewhere in between, volunteering possibilities are almost endless because of the breadth and scope of our programming. If you want to:

  • Give back to your community
  • Gain valuable experience
  • Meet people who share your interests
  • Enhance your leadership skills, or
  • Share your knowledge and life lessons with members of your community

... we invite you to join us as a volunteer. We can't wait to welcome you to our team.

Volunteer opportunities are ongoing in certain program areas. To learn more about opportunities in a particular department, please see below:

Volunteer Applications

If you are interested in volunteering at our YMCA please complete the application form (see link near top of page) and submit it to our Membership Services department.  Applications may be emailed to Alison at or dropped off at Membership Services.  She will connect your application with the YMCA Staff Supervisor responsible for your area of interest, and you will be contacted by that person to discuss their current volunteer opportunities.

Student Volunteers

Are you a high school student looking for a fun place to complete your 40 hours?  Volunteer with us!  High school students are welcomed in any of the roles above at our YMCA.  Apply today using the same method listed above under 'Volunteer Applications' and indicate that you are a student. Training is provided and counts towards your volunteer hours.  While you give back to the community you'll pick up lots of transferable skills that will help you in the coming years. Plus, we are happy to give references, and a volunteer position could definitely lead to paid work at our YMCA!

Co-op Placements

We have opportunities in all departments at our Health, Fitness & Aquatics facility for high school and college co-op placements.  Placements may also be available with our Community & Employment Services or Child Care departments.  You are guaranteed to leave with solid, hands-on experience that will help you in whatever you choose to take on next.

Interested?  Please connect with the person who co-ordinates co-op placements at your school and have them contact Alison Moran at or 519.376.0484 x221.
