Special Olympic Swim Team

Working in partnership with the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce, our  Owen Sound Otters are the largest Special Olympics Swim Team in Ontario.

The program is designed for individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Participants use the water to improve coordination, mobility and endurance, but most of all, to have fun!

Our school age team ranges from 8 to 21 year olds still in school and our adult swim team who range from 18 and up have the opportunity to participate in regional swim meets.

An accessible change area with an overhead sling and adjustable table, accessible showering facilities, pool entry ramps, and aquatic wheelchairs are available to help swimmers into the pool if needed.

How to Register

This is a members-only program and a $25 fee applies in addition to membership. Financial assistance is available for memberships; contact Customer Service for details.
