We’re excited to share that, as part of a City-led capital project, major roof renovations will begin at our Health, Fitness & Aquatics facility starting July 21, with set-up and mobilization taking place the week of July 14.

This 6–8 week project includes roof drain upgrades and skylight replacements to ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for all.

About the Project
The City of Owen Sound has awarded a contract to Spinton Roofing Ltd. to replace 40,000 sq ft of roofing, including insulation, and install a new membrane that is expected to last 20 years. This investment addresses long-standing leaks and helps protect the future of this community facility.

What to Expect

• Construction Hours: Monday to Saturday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (weather dependent)
• Pool & Gymnasium Programming: Roof drain work planned for late July may affect programming. We’ll share updates as we receive them and aim to keep at least one pool open where possible.
• Temporary Access: During skylight replacement in the North-South Corridor (dates TBD), YMCA access will shift to the emergency exit on the north side of the building near the gymnasium (Day Camp drop-off area). Signage will guide you.
• Minimizing Disruption: We’re working closely with the contractor and the City to limit the impact on your YMCA experience as much as possible.

• The Gymnasium will be closed from 5:45 AM to 1:00 PM.
