3rd Annual Cobble Beach 5km Lighthouse Fun Run Unites Community, Raising Over $11,000 for Two Local Charities

The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is excited to celebrate the incredible success of the 3rd Annual Cobble Beach 5km Lighthouse Fun Run, held on April 27, 2025. Blessed with beautiful weather, this vibrant community event brought together 303 participants, with ages ranging from 1 to over 80, showcasing the spirit of connection and support from across Grey Bruce and beyond.

Funds raised from the event, totaling $11,882.37, will be shared between the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey, Bruce & West Simcoe, supporting important local programs that help children, youth, and families thrive.

“The 3rd Annual 5km Lighthouse Fun Run at Cobble Beach brought our community together in an incredible way,” said April McMillan, Manager of Fund Development at the YMCA. “We are so grateful to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, and supported this event. A heartfelt thank you to Cobble Beach for being a committed and generous partner over the past three years, your continued support helps make this event such a success year after year. Because of this collective effort, we’re able to provide children with swimming lessons, help seniors stay active and connected, empower youth to build resilience, and offer individuals in need a safe place to grow and belong.”

We also extend our sincere gratitude to all event sponsors whose generosity made this day possible: Three Sheets Brewing, Woodley Care Services, Bluewater Veterinary Emergency Clinic, Runner’s Den, Buff Bison Sticks, Stressless Moves, Engaged Financial, Have1.com, Learn Fit, and Janet Lee Photography.

At the YMCA, we believe in building lasting impact one person and one moment at a time. The Strong Communities Fund helps remove financial barriers and opens the door to connection, confidence, and wellness for people of all ages.

Over the past fiscal year, we provided $187,770 in financial assistance, an amount that continues to grow well beyond the $76,650 we raised through fundraising efforts during the year. This shows just how crucial the Strong Communities Fund is in helping people access programs that support their well-being.
