Brockton is a wonderful place to live, work and play!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Position:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are currently hiring for multiple Heavy Equipment Operator positions including full-time, winter seasonal, and weekend-only roles to support our operations during the winter months. Join our team and help keep our community safe and running smoothly this winter.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting to the Operations Manager and assigned Lead Hand, the Heavy Equipment Operator operates and maintains Heavy Equipment and performs all related Public Works duties for the maintenance, construction, and operation of Municipally owned and operated infrastructure and facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the roads department, including working early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Carries out work assignments, using a variety of heavy equipment and other vehicles, power and hand tools, including physically demanding and repetitive manual labour as directed by the Lead Hand or Roads Supervisor, including but not limited to Snow Plow Truck, Sidewalk Plow, Motor Grader, Backhoe, Dump Truck and Floating Heavy Equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for snow and ice removal on public roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots, often in the early morning hours, for long consecutive hours, and during unfavourable road and weather conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Assists with construction projects and paving\/ resurfacing preparation.<\/li>\n<li>Repairs and installs road and street signs<\/li>\n<li>Repairs and installs culverts<\/li>\n<li>Operates chain saws, mowers, wood chipper and other equipment to cut trees, clear brush and cut grass in a variety of locations, including but not limited to public access roadways.<\/li>\n<li>Performs grave opening and closing at the Cemetery with a backhoe and hand tools.<\/li>\n<li>Responds to Emergency call-outs at any time of day or night (eg. road closures, downed trees, flooding events, assisting Emergency Responders)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications\/Knowledge\/Skills Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicant must be able to report to the Walkerton, Greenock or Brant Shop within 30 minutes of being called.<\/li>\n<li>Holds a Valid Ontario Drivers Class AZ or DZ License with a clean drivers abstract.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum grade 12 Education or equivalent education.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work flexible hours.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the maintenance and operation of heavy equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in operating snow plow, grader and back hoe an asset.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to drive in difficult driving conditions for long periods of time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A copy of the job task list is available by visiting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brockton.ca\/careers\">www.brockton.ca\/careers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What we offer you:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Full-Time Employees &#8211; <\/strong>42 hours per week, potential for overtime, comprehensive health benefits package, enrolment in OMERS pension plan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Seasonal Employees &ndash;<\/strong> Contract from November 16, 2026 to April 23, 2027, 24 &#8211; 32 hours per week, potential for additional hours and overtime, ability to enroll in OMERS pension plan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Weekend Employees &ndash; <\/strong>Starting November 16, 2026 to April 23, 2027, up to 16 hours per weekend, ability to enroll in OMERS pension plan.<\/li>\n<li>Rate of pay between $29.51 &#8211; $34.53 depending on qualifications and experience.<\/li>\n<li>Development opportunities though training or continuous learning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Access to Employee Family Assistance Plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Vacancy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This posting is for an existing role within our organization.
