{"id":6078,"date":"2026-04-14T11:57:31","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T15:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ymcaowensound.on.ca\/jobboard\/job\/data-and-research-assistant\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T11:57:31","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T15:57:31","slug":"data-and-research-assistant","status":"publish","type":"job_listing_board","link":"https:\/\/www.ymcaowensound.on.ca\/jobboard\/job\/data-and-research-assistant\/","title":{"rendered":"Data  and Research Assistant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Looking for a summer job where you actually use your brain (and tech skills)?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you&rsquo;re into data, trends, research, or even AI tools like ChatGPT, this could be a great fit.<\/p>\n<p>SEDC is hiring a <strong>Data &amp; Research Assistant<\/strong> to help us better understand what&rsquo;s happening in our local economy&mdash;and support small businesses and communities across Grey, Bruce, and Wellington Counties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You&rsquo;ll Be Doing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You won&rsquo;t be stuck doing busywork&mdash;this role is hands-on and meaningful:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use AI tools to help gather, organize, and analyze data<\/li>\n<li>Research economic and demographic trends in our region<\/li>\n<li>Build datasets on things like jobs, businesses, and population changes<\/li>\n<li>Use Excel (and other tools) to spot trends and insights<\/li>\n<li>Turn your findings into short, easy-to-understand reports<\/li>\n<li>Create visuals like charts, infographics, and presentations (hello Canva!)<\/li>\n<li>Work alongside our team to support real economic development projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What We&rsquo;re Looking For<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You don&rsquo;t need to know everything&mdash;we&rsquo;re more interested in your curiosity and willingness to learn:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comfortable using Excel (or willing to learn quickly)<\/li>\n<li>Interested in data, research, or problem-solving<\/li>\n<li>Familiar with Canva or design tools (a bonus, not a must)<\/li>\n<li>Curious about AI tools and how they can be used in real work<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication skills&mdash;you can explain things clearly<\/li>\n<li>Organized and able to work independently and with a team<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Grey, Bruce, or Wellington Counties is a bonus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What You&rsquo;ll Gain<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This isn&rsquo;t just a summer job&mdash;you&rsquo;ll build skills that employers are actually looking for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Adaptability<\/strong> &ndash; Learn new tools and adjust to real-world projects<\/li>\n<li><strong>Collaboration<\/strong> &ndash; Work with a supportive, experienced team<\/li>\n<li><strong>Communication<\/strong> &ndash; Turn complex data into clear insights<\/li>\n<li><strong>Creativity &amp; Innovation<\/strong> &ndash; Find new ways to present and use data<\/li>\n<li><strong>Digital Skills<\/strong> &ndash; Use AI tools, Excel, and design platforms<\/li>\n<li><strong>Numeracy<\/strong> &ndash; Work with real data and trends<\/li>\n<li><strong>Problem-Solving<\/strong> &ndash; Help answer real questions facing local communities<\/li>\n<li><strong>Technical Skills<\/strong> &ndash; Gain hands-on experience you can put on your resume<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To apply, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment<\/li>\n<li>Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection<\/li>\n<li>Be legally entitled to work in Canada<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why Work With Us?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At SEDC, the work you do actually matters.
