Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Y is people-powered.<\/strong> Our staff and volunteers provide the <strong>spark<\/strong> that helps <strong>ignite<\/strong> positive change in the lives of others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Opportunity to be the Spark! <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a charity igniting the potential in people, we are seeking a <strong>Settlement Worker in Schools<\/strong> to join our Settlement Services team.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Commitment to excellent customer service while demonstrating the YMCA Mission, Vision and Values when interacting with others.<\/li>\n<li>Provide Settlement Services in schools following IRCC guidelines, traveling to locations throughout Grey and Bruce on a flexible schedule to meet clients&rsquo; needs, including evenings and weekends.<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable in providing in-person and virtual support.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the school reception and orientation process for Newcomer students and their families.<\/li>\n<li>Assist the school with initiating contact with all Newcomer families.<\/li>\n<li>Provide orientation sessions on programs and services available in both the school and the surrounding community.<\/li>\n<li>Provide cultural background information to the school staff as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Inform and orient families and students about the educational system in the Canadian context.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate referrals and access to available resources in the community, social services, professional services, outreach and government programs.<\/li>\n<li>Actively participate in the development and presentation of cultural profiles, workshops and settlement related activities for students, families and schools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Just Some of the Benefits of Working at the YMCA:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comprehensive and ongoing training and long-term and upward career opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Free membership to our Health, Fitness and Aquatics facility.<\/li>\n<li>Flexible work schedules.<\/li>\n<li>Medical, dental, and pension benefits (eligibility based on number of hours worked)<\/li>\n<li>Fun, passionate and dependable co-workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Job Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a minimum of 18 years of age.<\/li>\n<li>Be legally entitled to work in Canada.<\/li>\n<li>Have current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than ninety (90) days preceding your start date.<\/li>\n<li>Have minimum Class G Driver&rsquo;s License; own vehicle and be willing and able to travel throughout Grey and Bruce Counties.<\/li>\n<li>Provide 3 professional references.<\/li>\n<li>Have a post secondary degree or diploma in counselling, education, social work or human resources discipline<\/li>\n<li>Have a fluency in an additional language (an asset)<\/li>\n<li>Have proficiency in digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet in order to provide virtual\/remote service.<\/li>\n<li>Have experience working in a cross-cultural environment delivering direct service to newcomers (an asset).<\/li>\n<li>Have strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills.<\/li>\n<li>Have highly developed research skills and ability to interpret complex documentation and applications.<\/li>\n<li>Be self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment.<\/li>\n<li>Have good computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office applications, virtual classrooms, internet and email.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The YMCA&rsquo;s Commitment to Protecting Those We Serve:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are committed to our responsibility to protect the children and other vulnerable people we serve.
