{"id":5330,"date":"2026-05-01T00:27:38","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T04:27:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ymcaowensound.on.ca\/jobboard\/job\/line-cook-and-kitchen-prep-assistant-2\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T00:27:38","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T04:27:38","slug":"line-cook-and-kitchen-prep-assistant-2","status":"publish","type":"job_listing_board","link":"https:\/\/www.ymcaowensound.on.ca\/jobboard\/job\/line-cook-and-kitchen-prep-assistant-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Line Cook and Kitchen Prep Assistant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Milk Maid is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Line Cook and Kitchen Prep Assistant to join our Owen Sound team on a part-time basis (16-20 hours\/week) As a Line Cook and Kitchen Prep Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our kitchen in a busy downtown lunch spot, primarily focusing on preparing sandwiches, salads, soups and baked goods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Prepare sandwiches, salads, soups, and baked goods according to established recipes and standards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Prepare, process and package food items for sales &amp; service.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Assist in opening and closing duties, including organizing and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen workspace.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Measure and portion ingredients accurately for various recipes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation and monitoring ingredient levels.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures to maintain high levels of hygiene and safety.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the kitchen manager.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Embrace a teamwork-oriented environment, offering support to other staff as required.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Minimum 1-year experience in a similar role.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and safely.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ability to follow instructions &amp; recipes accurately and execute tasks efficiently.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Must maintain up to date Safe Food Handler&rsquo;s certification.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Willingness to learn and a passion for fine food is essential.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A positive attitude, excellent English communication skills, and a team player mentality.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Join The Milk Maid team and be part of creating delicious and memorable dishes for our valued customers.
