As a charity igniting the potential in people, we are seeking a Youth Program Leader to be responsible for the planning, preparation and direct facilitation of youth skill-based or recreation-based programs.

Responsibilities:

Supervision and Safety:

  • Acts as a role model for safety and always takes responsibility for the supervision and security of all participants in your care.
  • Participates in swim and helps enforce pool rules and ratios.
  • Follows emergency procedures, including first aid and CPR.
  • Supervises camper groups on offsite excursions and performs frequent roll calls.

Programming:

  • Plans, organizes and facilitates Youth and Recreation program activities, considering age-appropriate and engaging options.
  • Fosters a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation and teamwork.
  • Builds positive relationships with participants, creating a supportive and trusting environment.
  • Addresses and resolves conflicts among participants, promoting effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Serves as a positive role model by demonstrating enthusiasm, responsibility, and respect.

Communication:

  • Communicates effectively with participants, parents, fellow staff members, and volunteers.
  • Maintains an accurate program attendance record as per Child and Youth Safeguarding Policy
  • Passes along questions or concerns regarding specific participants or programs to supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • You are legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Have Standard First Aid and CPR Level-C/AED certification.
  • Possess a minimum of Grade 10 High School education.
  • Have the ability to read, write and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Are experienced working with children 0 – 12 years of age.
  • Experience working with special needs children an asset but not a requirement.
  • If you are 18 years of age or older, a Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Checks upon hire is required.
  • We are also looking for 3 professional or character references.
  • You offer flexibility regarding assigned hours of work.
  • You have the ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers is required.
