Salary/Wage: $32.80 – $35.61 per hour ($31.33 – $35.61 per hour PLUS WEG per eligible hour).
Wages commensurate with qualifications and experience.

As a charity igniting the potential in people, we are seeking a Supervisor of Child Care to oversee the operation of our child care, before and after school and summer programs. This position is responsible to coach and develop program staff. It requires a flexible work schedule including early mornings, days and evenings, based on program needs.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with, and under the direction of, the Manager of Child Care Operations, takes the lead in ensuring all YMCA Child Care and Before and After School programs and services are offered at the highest quality and are in compliance with Ministry of Education requirements.
- Assesses all aspects of program development and implementation and makes necessary changes on a regular basis. Demonstrates problem solving skills and at times, works independently with minimal or no supervision. Assigns program duties according to the centre’s needs.
- Communicates openly and effectively with all staff, shares accurate information in regards to the centre’s and program policies and procedures with other staff, students, families and community agency representatives.
- Participates in program planning sessions with all staff, supporting them when needed to ensure Playing to Learn / A Place to Connect requirements and guidelines are followed.
- Participates in at least two (2) professional development activities per year and supports the professional growth and development of colleagues by sharing materials and information and providing helpful feedback and encouragement.
- Oversees program implementation and provide regular feedback to staff including annual input into performance reviews and behaviour management, in consultation with the Manager of Child Care Operations.
- Assists and provides leadership to staff in completing developmental profiles and conducting parent-teacher interviews.
- Maintains all program forms and files in accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act.
- Reviews programs for compliance to provincial Ministry of Education (MOE) licensing requirements.
- Takes responsibility for the hiring, orientation and training of centre and related program staff and volunteers. Carries out performance management and performance evaluations, and establishes clearly defined and effective action plans for staff including short and long term goals.
- Ensures compliance with Public Health standards, fire safety (including monthly fire drills), and regular (daily, weekly, monthly) playground inspections.
- Promotes teamwork and finds opportunities for staff to engage in professional development annually in accordance with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Reviews and ensures all accident/incident reports and documentation is accurate and completed with the required detail and in a professional manner.
- Posts and keeps necessary information to ensure all legislative criteria and requirements are met at all times.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Supervisor, arranges for staffing coverage on an as-needed basis, managing attendance and punctuality of all staff and placement students, and maintains the supply staff list. Ensures staff schedules reflective of the needs of the centre and meeting ratios at all times.Ensures individual and staff compliance with legislative and Association requirements (i.e. vulnerable sector checks, immunizations, professional designations, training certifications, immunizations and physicals, etc.).
- Oversees the ordering of center and program supplies, including food.
- Implements and monitors the established annual financial plan for the centre and related program areas to ensure the centre and programs are achieving targets (financial, enrolment, and staffing ratios). Identified variances and areas of concern.
- Maintains open lines of communications with staff, parents and external site-specific contacts.
- Facilitates appropriate and timely solutions with conflict arises (between staff or with families).
- Ensures all qualifications/certifications are kept current.
- Performs all other duties as assigned to support operations.
- Maintains confidentiality of information related to the Association, clients/families and staff.
- Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association.
- Models appropriate behaviours to staff in line with our Shine On culture, and our Mission, Vision and Values. Establishes rapport and maintains effective relationship building behaviours with staff, volunteers and clients/families. Represents the YMCA in a professional manner.
- Actively participates in meetings, workshops and courses as directed or recommended by the Manager of Child Care Operations and Association meetings, training sessions (including Child Safeguarding), professional development activities and facility functions as required.

Job Requirements:
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Have current Standard First Aid, CPR-C, & AED certificate (or willingness to complete prior to starting work).
- Have current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than ninety (90) days preceding your start date.
- Have minimum Class G Driver’s License; own vehicle and be willing and able to travel throughout Grey and Bruce Counties.
- Provide 3 professional references.
- Have Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation, in good standing, with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Have 2 years of experience in a similar role.
