Job Description

The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library is looking for a post-secondary student for the position of Summer Programs Coordinator. The successful candidate should have some post-secondary education in a related field, such as education, arts, literature, or library science.

The Summer Programs Coordinator will have an interest in working with children and encouraging literacy. They should be enthusiastic about literature and possess an understanding and love of children’s books.

Because of the expectations around community outreach this year, it is necessary that the successful candidate feel comfortable speaking and interacting with people of all ages. They will also be required to hold a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

We are looking for candidates who are eager to learn new things, who enjoy a challenge and can find creative solutions to problems.

The successful candidate for the position of Summer Programs Coordinator will possess the following skills:

  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with staff and public.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm and presentation skills.
  • Respect for confidentiality.
  • Motivated and able to exercise independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate summer programs, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to schedules.
  • Manage program budgets, tracking expenses and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Supervise volunteers, providing guidance and support to enhance program delivery.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to stakeholders, showcasing program achievements and goals.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and community members to foster engagement and feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain necessary documentation.
