Job Description

Under the direction of the Restorative Care Coordinator, the Restorative Care Aide will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of restorative care services.

This role involves providing comprehensive resident care and rehabilitation support, with a strong focus on promoting resident independence and safety. Key responsibilities include direct resident care (ADLs, mobility, feeding), assessing and addressing restorative care needs, executing therapy programs (Physio, OT, Speech), and meticulously documenting resident status and progress. The role also requires strict adherence to safety and OHSA guidelines, active participation in CQI and Risk Management, effective interdisciplinary collaboration, and ongoing education.

We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:

  • Successful completion of training program in restorative care, or are enrolled in such a program; or

  • Have successfully completed a relevant training course provided by the licensee that is designed and supervised by a qualified therapist who is a member of the appropriate college of a regulated health professional as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, ss. 79 and Ontario Regulation 67/22 (2).

  • Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education

  • Must be flexible, innovative and creative

  • Experience in geriatric rehabilitation or Long Term Care (Gerontology) is an asset.

  • Must be computer literate

The new 160-bed home will be built on the existing site of Southampton Care Centre and

will feature design improvements, including larger resident common areas and air conditioning throughout the home. The design is centred around five ‘resident home areas’, each of which creates a more intimate and familiar living space with dining and activity areas, lounges and bedrooms for up to 32 residents. The redevelopment of Southampton Care Centre is expected to be completed and welcoming its first residents by spring 2026.
