As a charity igniting the potential in people, we are seeking a Resource Worker to provide support to our community members who access the resource room, and to support the day-to-day operation of services with a specialization with marketing and connecting with community partners. This role requires the ability to multitask and manage many interruptions, while also providing support to 15 – 20 staff. This role welcomes individuals, responds to customer calls using a multi-line phone and voicemail system; schedules appointments; operates office equipment; and assists in creating and editing client resumes and cover letters.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome individuals at the front counter and by phone and responds to customer calls using a multi line phone and voicemail system and schedules appointments
  • Enthusiastically outreach to potential clients/employers of the service by encouraging walk-ins and call-ins to use YMCA services.
  • Collaboratively work with all Community and Employment programs to support team members in delivery of program(s)
  • Develop an understanding of the programs and guidelines offered at the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce
  • Assess participants’ needs, provide them with orientation to resource centre and referrals to the appropriate programs and services
  • Manage and troubleshoot a multi-line phone and voicemail system; coordinate mailboxes, change messages, etc.
  • Photocopy, fax resumes and cover sheets for participants and program staff. Provide assistance to clients with job search, resumes, cover letters, job interviews, career exploration, utilizing computers, filling out registrations and any other assistance they may need.
  • Help people do searches on the computer, for education, jobs or housing
  • Coordinate mail and courier services
  • Order and maintain inventory of office supplies
  • Ensure office equipment is in proper working order
  • Ensure that the Resource Centre is clean and orderly at all times
  • Provide administrative support to Manager and other staff
  • Update, acquire, and organize resources used by participants
  • Ensures the positive promotion of the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce, its programs, and the image of the people we serve.
  • Ensures that personal expertise and knowledge are kept current, applicable to changes in program direction, and relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Participates in all prescribed trainings, including Child/Vulnerable Persons Protection trainings.

Job Requirements:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Have current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than ninety (90) days preceding your start date.
  • Have minimum Class G Driver’s License; own vehicle and be willing and able to travel throughout Grey and Bruce Counties.
  • Provide 3 professional references.
  • Have a post-secondary diploma in Administration or related experience an asset, minimum Grade 12
  • Be confident and comfortable with communicating with others verbally and written
  • Be familiar with government employment programs and willingness to learn
  • Have excellent communication / organization skills / technical skills
  • Be detail oriented with high expectations ensuring quality service provision and documentation
  • Have understanding of the local labour market, community services and networking skills
  • Be able to independently with minimal supervision and is disciplined in setting priorities and outcomes
