Reports To: Home and Community Care Nurse Supervisor
Type of Employment: Full-time Permanent
Wage: $22.66 – $28.18
Hours of Work: 20 – 37.5 hours per week
The Personal Support Worker (PSW), supervised by the Home and Community Care Nurse Supervisor, provides care to seniors, persons with disabilities and persons with chronic illness. Care is generally in Client’s home but may be in other locations.
Qualifications
- Personal Support Worker certificate from an approved educational institute.
- Certificate in Palliative Care, Mental Health, and Motivational Interviewing considered an asset.
- Previous experience with clients, who are elderly, disabled or having chronic illness considered an asset.
- Awareness of health issues specific to First Nation, elderly and persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge/proficiency with computers, software and communication technology.
- Valid CPR and First Aid
- Food Handler Certification
- Current negative Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence
- Current immunization record and TB Test
Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.
