Job Description

Our client, a construction and aggregates company, is seeking a Full-Time Permanent General Accountant to assist across multiple divisions of their busy operation. This is a hybrid role with a regular schedule combining both remote and in-office work at the Owen Sound & Barrie locations (weekly travel required with mileage provided). This full-time position is Monday to Friday with a salary ranging from $60,000 to $80,000 based on qualifications and experience.

About The Role

The General Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company financial records. This position will work closely with the accounting team and other staff to input, verify and analyze detailed financial data. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, your work will contribute to monthly HST filings, Stats Canada reporting, and more. Other duties may include:

  • Performing account analysis & reconciliation to ensure accuracy
  • Preparing journal entries for monthly, quarterly & annual closings
  • Filing corporate tax & HST/GST remittances
  • Supporting operations & construction teams with financial analysis
  • Managing fixed assets & monthly depreciation
  • Preparing year-end audit files & supporting audit processes
  • Other tasks as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (minimum) + college diploma or University degree in accounting or a related field
  • 3-years proven accounting experience, preferably in a construction or operations-based environment
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • G-Class driver’s license with a clean driving abstract
  • Excellent attention to detail & a passion for getting the numbers right
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles & financial analysis
  • Enrolment in a CPA designation program considered an asset (but not required)

 

This role would be a great fit for someone with experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Accounting, Accounting Clerk, Finance, Financial Analyst or Tax Preparation.
