Cobble Beach is an extraordinary, four-season, waterfront resort community, which spans 574-acres with over a mile of frontage on Georgian Bay. Job purpose
As First Cook at Cobble Beach you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food for both a la carte service and/or banquet services. You shall possess a high level of skill and knowledge in the culinary field. You will be expected to continue learning and growing as a culinary professional. You must present yourself in a professional manner always. As a first cook, it is your job to pay very close attention to detail and provide our customers with exceptional quality food and presentation.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for proper preparation and presentation of menu items as set out by the executive chef and sous chefs
- Keep a clean, organized and sanitary work environment
- Required to check and record fridge temperatures every shift
- May be responsible for running the line during slower mealtimes
- Effectively delegate to second cooks and dishwashers to ensure a positive and productive work environment
- Proper labeling and dating of products
- Rotates stock effectively. First In First Out
- Responsible for restocking items as needed
- Communicate product shortages
- Responsible for keeping management notified of any equipment issues
- Minimizes safety hazards by following all health and safety procedures
- Communicates effectively and positively with the front of house and culinary team
- Ensures guest satisfaction by proper preparation of menu items and features
- Follows all kitchen procedures to ensure a smooth-running operation
Qualifications
- Safe food handling certificate
- Up to three years cooking experience
- Red Seal Certification
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Culinary Program ie: George Brown, Georgian College, OYAP
Working conditions
This position requires you to be available anytime the restaurant is open. This includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and special occasions. This position may require long hours, working on holidays and weekends.
