Huronia Area Aboriginal Management Board (HAAMB) is hiring an Employment Development Officer. This position plays a key role in supporting unemployed and underemployed clients through Employment Ontario Employment Services. This role focuses on employment counselling, career planning, job readiness, and connecting clients to training and employment opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities – Client & Employment Services:
- Meet with clients to assess employment needs, background, and career goals
- Develop Employment Action Plans and provide ongoing employment counselling
- Support clients with résumés, interview preparation, and job search strategies
- Provide information on labour market trends, job opportunities, and training options
- Determine eligibility and recommend financial supports related to employment and training
- Maintain accurate client files, case notes, and documentation
- Complete Common Assessments and required data entry (CaMS, We Data)
- Monitor client progress and complete follow-up requirements
Secondary Responsibilities – Program & Community Support:
- Deliver or assist with workshops (job search, career planning, life skills, etc.)
- Participate in job fairs, employment events, and community outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with employers, community agencies, and partners
- Collect and maintain resources for the client resource centre
- Assist with reporting requirements and monthly statistics
- Maintain confidentiality of all clients and program information
- Share workload with team members and support office operations as needed
- Participate in required training (Employment Ontario, RISE, systems training)
- Travel as required
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Comfortable facilitating one-on-one and group sessions
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma (required), with a willingness to obtain on-the-job training and certification
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Experience in employment counselling or supporting individuals with employment goals
- Knowledge of employment and training programs (Employment Ontario preferred)
- Experience interacting with the public
- Strong communication skills — written, verbal, and electronic
- Strong organizational and case management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard office software
- Ability to work independently and stay organized
- Clear criminal records check
- Valid G driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
- Access to reliable transportation
