Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and culturally grounded Elementary Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging lessons aligned with the Ontario curriculum, while integrating Anishinaabemowin, culture, traditions, and history into the classroom environment. This role requires a strong commitment to supporting First Nation learners in achieving academic success while maintaining cultural integrity. The teacher will also be expected to participate in community and cultural events, contribute to school activities, and demonstrate a willingness to engage in ongoing professional and cross-cultural development. Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education, or Native Teacher Education Diploma, with valid Ontario Teaching Certification
•Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience in First Nation schools and communities
•Experience in human resource management related to teaching and support staff
•Strong knowledge of the Ontario curriculum, education policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
•Understanding of education delivery models and developmental needs in First Nation communities
•Knowledge and appreciation of Anishinaabe heritage, with the ability to integrate Anishinaabemowin, culture, traditions, and history into the curriculum
•Ability to provide up-to-date immunization records upon request
•Valid First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain within three (3) months of hire
