We are looking for a Direct Service Worker who is interested in the challenge and rewards of supporting a young woman with complex needs, who is always changing and learning.
This is a great time to challenge yourself, learn new skills while providing support.
This young woman has a diagnosis of Autism with communication challenges, sensory issues, behaviours and medical needs connected to this diagnosis.
She is an amazing young woman who:
- Lives in her own apartment where she participates in household tasks including laundry, vacuuming, cleaning and looking after her pet.
- Enjoys horseback riding and skating
- Has a mischievous sense of humour
Successful applicants will provide support in the following areas,
- Support related to diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to include working with family, Regional Support Associates, Dual Diagnosis and other Resource Providers to address sensory, processing and medical needs, and providing support in addressing challenging behaviour.
- Assistance to be connected to family and the community including support to participate in preferred activities as identified above.
- Assistance with dietary and medical needs, including following specified diet and assisting with personal care.
- Experience and/or education related to autism spectrum disorder are an asset but not mandatory.
The successful applicant will have ample opportunities for training and shadows and have the chance to work as part of an exceptional support team including family and community resources. There is a focus on providing ongoing support for this Individual and her team.
