Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Assistant Executive Director is responsible for the annual fundraising, community communications and general administration. This position requires advanced administrative and computer proficiency to ensure the highest level of performance in front office operations, donor and volunteer relationships, direct mail, and communications. The Assistant Executive Director will work closely with the Executive Director in the planning and implementation of processes and fundraising activities of the Centre Grey Health Services Foundation, whose statement of purpose is to inspire our communities to invest in regional hospital health care for the benefit of everyone

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the organization’s philanthropic initiatives and services.
  • Work closely with staff from Brightshores Health System to identify fundraising needs, and communicate those needs to volunteers and donors.
  • Research funding sources, oversee the development of fundraising plans and write funding proposals to increase the funds of the organization.
  • Research and analyze grant opportunities, develop strategies and grant writing proposals
  • Expand the Foundation’s donor base and increase fundraising
  • Participate in fundraising activities and represent the organization at community events to enhance the organization’s community profile.
  • Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, donors, politicians, and other organizations to help to achieve the purpose of the CGHS Foundation.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with Markdale Hospital and Brightshores Health System staff, physicians and volunteers.
  • Assist the Executive Director in implementing annual operational plans, which incorporates goals and objectives that reflect the strategic directions of the Foundation.
  • Maintain professional office environment overseeing efficient and effective administrative operations making recommendations for improvement
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate files including Board Manual, suggesting revisions or new policies and procedures as needed
  • Full understanding of donor database, including ability to input, produce reports, and maintain data integrity
  • Actively seek out donor management best practices, making recommendations to the Executive Director
  • Work with Executive Director and Financial Officer to prepare documentation for meetings
  • Coordinate and attend Board and Committee meetings, record and distribute minutes as required.
  • Collaborate on the creation of fundraising materials and donor communications including proposals, direct mail campaigns, stewardship pieces, and annual reports
  • Coordinate the Foundation’s day-to-day social media interactions, website maintenance, and grow the overall digital presence of the Foundation
  • Provide administrative support to Board Chair and Executive Director, as required
  • Provide administrative support to volunteer recruitment, training and recognition

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University Degree or Graduate Certificate in Fundraising, Philanthropy, Business or related experience
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation considered an asset
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors, (staff or volunteer) an asset
  • Grant writing experience will be looked upon favourably
  • Ability to communication professionally with a wide breadth of writing, researching and public relations skills
  • Knowledge of the Grey Bruce region considered an
  • Advanced level of computer proficiency including Microsoft Office, social media/website maintenance, Canva, online payment systems, records and data base management
  • Ability to use discretion, judgment and tact in handling sensitive or confidential information and situations
