About the Position:
The Municipality of Brockton invites qualified applicants for the position of Seasonal/Part-Time Facilities Maintainer. This position will be starting in September 2026 and conclude no later than April 2027. This position is responsible for keeping the arena clean and supporting the Facilities and Parks Operators while cleaning the ice. This position will also provide a variety of building and grounds maintenance, and performing routine inspection services for the safety and convenience of the public. There is the ability to cross train as a Food Booth Attendant and work in both roles for the winter.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Keeping lobby, stands, washrooms, dressing and referee rooms, upstairs hall clean and tidy.
- Garbage and recycling clean up and collection throughout the facility.
- Maintaining the front foyer and lobby area by keeping doors, windows, seating clean and disinfected.
- Securing entrances and providing access to rentals and public.
- Janitorial tasks include stocking the washroom supplies, and cleaning and disinfection of the washrooms.
- Snow shoveling and salting of the arena entrances.
- Moving nets on the ice, while the Recreation Facility Attendant is cleaning the ice.
- Set up and tear down of the hall for programming and special events.
- Patrolling public skating events.
- Provide customer service.
- Working cooperatively with others to ensure all required tasks are completed on a daily basis.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Attending high school is a minimum requirement.
- Ability to work flexible hours, variable shifts including nights and weekends.
- Experience performing cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Ability to work safely and take initiative.
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
What we offer you:
- Student rate – $19.00 – $20.00 depending on qualifications and experience.
- General rate – $19.70 – $20.70 depending on qualifications and experience.
- Part-Time hours including nights and weekends.
- Ability to pick up additional shifts as a Food Booth Attendant.
- Eligibility to enroll in OMERS pension plan.
- Access to Employee Family Assistance Plan.
