About The Job

We are seeking a caring, dedicated, flexible, and student-focused Teacher – Rotary and Academic Support to join the team at Kikendaasogamig Elementary School (KES). This position provides classroom instruction, rotary subject teaching, classroom coverage, and targeted academic support for students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, culturally responsive programming aligned with the Ontario Curriculum while integrating Anishinaabe culture, traditions, history, and Anishinaabemowin into teaching and learning. Working collaboratively with school staff, families, Elders, and the community, the Teacher will help foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student achievement, well-being, and cultural identity.

QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.).
For advanced credential applicants, preference may be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in Education or AQ Specialist qualifications, along with demonstrated proficiency in Anishinaabemowin.
•Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).
•Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience, preferably in a First Nation or Indigenous education environment.
•Knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum (Kindergarten to Grade 8), student assessment, and instructional best practices.
•Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive teaching and integrating Anishinaabe culture, traditions, history, and language into the classroom.
•Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
•Recent Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check; valid First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within three months of hire).
