Reports To: Childcare Centre Supervisor

Term of Employment: Temporary Contract – Summer Student

Wage: $18.26 – $19.74 per hour Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Vacancy Status: New temporary position (Summer Student – funded)

About The Job
The Assistant Early Childhood Educator – Trainee/Summer Student supports the Childcare Centre team in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. Working under the direction of the Supervisor and Registered Early Childhood Educators, this role assists with daily programming, supervision of children, and maintaining a clean and safe learning environment. In this role, you will:
•Assist with implementing age-appropriate activities and daily routines
•Support the supervision and well-being of children at all times
•Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment that supports children’s development
•Assist with basic documentation and communication as required
•Assist with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining program materials and spaces
•Follow all health, safety, and organizational policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS
•Secondary or post-secondary student returning to school in September (Early Childhood Education or related field)
•Experience or knowledge of First Nation or Indigenous communities
•Strong communication and teamwork skills
•Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office considered an asset)
•CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
•Acceptable Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check (if 18+)
•Must meet eligibility criteria set by the Huronia Aboriginal Area Management Board (HAAMB) Summer Student Program
•Must be eligible to work in Canada and possess a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
