Program: Communications

Report To: Communications Manager

Term of Employment: Full-time Permanent

Hours of Work: up to 37.5 hrs per week

Level: Level 5 ($27.75 – $34.50)

Closing Date: Monday, March 23, 2026 4:00pm EST

The Pow Wow Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning, organization and coordination of the Annual Chippewa of Nawash Traditional Pow Wow including: budgeting, marketing and promotion and take down of the Pow Wow grounds, organize performers/drummers, dancers and vendors, organizing fundraising activities and networking with local organizations for sponsorship and donations, recruit and train volunteers recognition event.

Qualifications

  • OSSD (grade 12 or equivalent)
  • Supervisory experience or in a role responsible for recruitment and training.
  • Work experience in a finance and office administration type role
  • Knowledge of or experience in hospitality management
  • Must be bondable
  • Knowledge of Chippewas of Nawash Pow Wow Event
  • Skilled with marketing and ability to use various social media platforms
  • Skilled with office equipment and various software including Adobe, Miscrosof tie. Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Event Planning Experience an asset
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s licence
  • Acceptable recent Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • First Aid Certification an asset

Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.
