About The Job

We are seeking a Child and Youth Worker (CYW) to support the social, emotional, behavioural, and mental well-being of students in order to enhance engagement, learning, and overall academic success. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the CYW provides preventative, targeted, and responsive supports consistent with Ontario education guidelines and community values. The CYW integrates trauma-informed, strengths-based, culturally grounded, and restorative practices into daily work and programming. The role supports a safe, inclusive, and culturally affirming learning environment that reflects Anishnaabe values and community priorities. The CYW reports to the Support Services Program Lead and works collaboratively with teaching staff, families, administration, and external service providers.

QUALIFICATIONS
•Post-secondary diploma or degree in Child and Youth Work, Social Service Work, Social Work, or a related field.
•Experience supporting children and youth with social, emotional, behavioural, or mental health needs in a school, community, or youth-serving setting.
•Experience working with First Nation or Indigenous communities, schools, or organizations.
•Knowledge of Anishnaabe culture, values, and community priorities.
•Knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based, restorative, and culturally responsive approaches to supporting students.
•Understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health, and behavioural support strategies within educational environments.
•Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
•Strong communication, documentation, and case management skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain strict confidentiality.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
•Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
•First Aid/CPR certification and WHMIS (or willingness to obtain).
•Membership with a professional association such as the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care.
