Our client, a government-funded not-for-profit organization, is currently seeking a Part-Time Temporary Accounting Specialist to join the team at their busy office location in Formosa, ON. The selected candidate will support the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the client’s full-cycle financial and accounting operations. This is a part-time temporary position estimated to run approximately 6 months but could become long-term for the right candidate. Approximately 15 to 20 hours per week with wages starting at $55.00 per hour based on experience.

About The Role
The Part-Time Accounting Specialist will provide hands-on accounting, reconciliation, and reporting support to ensure statutory obligations, audit requirements, and internal financial controls are met. The Accounting Specialist will have experience working within a not-for-profit governance model and will work in coordination with General Manager/Secretary-Treasurer and Corporate Services staff. Other tasks may include:
- Reviewing & Approving AP, AR, Payroll, & General Ledger Transactions
- Performing Month-end Entries, Allocations, & Reconciliations
- Supporting Preparation & Implementation of the 2027 Budget
- Preparing Financial Reports & Analysis for Senior Management
- Completing CRA, HST, Payroll, & Related Regulatory Reporting
- Assisting with WSIB, Pension, & Benefits Reporting
- Maintaining Tangible Capital Asset Records
- Supporting Municipal Invoicing, Grants, & Special Program Reporting
- Assisting with Fund Management, Investments, & Banking Activities
- Providing Support & Training for Accounting Staff
- Ensuring Compliance with Health & Safety Policies
- Performing Other Related Duties as Assigned
Requirements
- Completed CPA Designation Required
- 3 to 5 Years of Previous Accounting Experience
- Working Knowledge of Accrual Accounting & GAAP Regulatory Standards
- Experience & Understanding of Accounting within a Not-For-Profit Governance Structure
- Experience Working with Adagio Accounting Software Required
This role would be a great fit for someone with experience in Public Auditing, Tax Specialist, Corporate Accounting, Internal Audit, Forensic Accounting, or Government Auditor.
