Hours: 35-40 hours per week

Shifts: Monday – Friday, 6:45am to 5:45pm, shifts being between 7.5 – 8.5 hours long. Flexibility is required when necessary

Salary/Wage: $17.91 – 20.36
Wages commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Start Date: June 5, 2026 (training for 16 to 24 hours) Full time effective June 29, 2026

End Date: August 29, 2026

As a charity igniting the potential in people, we are seeking a passionate, creative, and fun Day Camp Coordinator who loves working with children.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Supervisor of Youth and Recreation to develop and implement camp policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Provide leadership to camp counsellors and volunteers and support their professional development.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive camp culture.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and supervision of camp counsellors and volunteers.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Responsible for coaching and motivating staff to ensure they are meeting the expectations of their role and achieving camp objectives.
  • Support staff in resolving issues and maintaining a positive camp environment.
  • In collaboration with the Supervisor, ensuring we meet and exceed parent expectations at all points of their camp experience from registration to pre-camp communication, communication while camp is in session, and responding to parents’ emails and inquires in a timely manner
  • Contribute to the development of camp programs and activities.
  • Ensure programs align with the YMCA’s mission and goals.
  • In collaboration with the Supervisor, Implements and evaluates new initiatives to enhance the camp experience.
  • Interact with campers and parents to address concerns and ensure a positive experience.
  • Assist in the development of camper schedules and oversee daily activities.
  • Implement strategies to promote camper involvement and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor of Youth and Recreation to establish and enforce safety protocols.
  • Address and manage any emergencies or incidents that may arise.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities and equipment.
  • Assist in budget management and financial record-keeping.
  • Handle assisting with camper registration and completing documentation, such as, emergency reports, camper lists, allergy lists, trip lists, pizza lists, and camper logbooks as required.
  • Assist the Supervisor of Youth and Recreation on logistical aspects of the camp, such as transportation and facility maintenance.
  • Represents the YMCA in the community and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Participate in promotional events to attract campers and engage with the community.

Job Requirements:

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Have current Standard First Aid, CPR-C, & AED certificate (or willingness to complete prior to starting work).
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.
  • If you are 18 years of age or older, have current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than ninety (90) days preceding your start date.
  • Provide 3 professional or character references.
