Cobble Beach is an extraordinary, four-season, waterfront resort community, which spans 574-acres with over a mile of frontage on Georgian Bay. This expansive property includes an award winning 18-hole Doug Carrick links style golf course, 2 U.S. Open style tennis courts, outdoor plunge pool, Sweetwater Restaurant, casual seasonal dining on the Creekside Terrace, special event pavilion, spa, gym, 14km of walking trails, private beach club, 10 room Nantucket style boutique inn, 5 private cottages; and a growing residential community.
Job purpose
As a Food & Beverage Host at Cobble Beach, you are responsible for the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. You must possess expertise on all food and beverage offerings within the establishment. You will be expected to present yourself in a professional manner, reflecting the upscale environment of your workplace. Special attention should be paid to providing an exceptional customer experience during all steps of service as well as maintaining a team atmosphere with your peers on both the service and culinary teams to achieve your common goal.
Duties and responsibilities
- Learn all details of menu and anticipate questions that may be asked
- Follow all steps of service
- Ensure guest satisfaction
- Professionally deal with complaints or dissatisfied guests
- Maintain a clean & tidy workplace
- Warmly greet guests upon arrival and create a welcoming first impression
- Manage reservations, waitlists, and walk‑ins using the restaurant’s booking system
- Escort guests to their tables and present menus
- Balance seating to support smooth service flow for servers
- Communicate wait times clearly and accurately
- Answer phone calls and assist with reservations, inquiries, and takeout orders
- Coordinate with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure efficient table turnover
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area
- Stock, organize, clean work stations
- Answer phone & taking reservations through Opentable
- Understanding of Cobble Beach Resort as a whole
- Identify and take advantage of opportunities to up-sell
- Other duties as assigned
Working conditions
This position you to be available anytime the food & beverage operations require it. This includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and banquets & special occasions inclusive of Concours d’Elegance. This position does require long hours and will include working holidays.
