Job Description
Cobble Beach is an extraordinary, four-season, waterfront resort community, which spans 574-acres with over a mile of frontage on Georgian Bay. This expansive property includes an award winning 18-hole Doug Carrick links style golf course, 2 U.S. Open style tennis courts, outdoor plunge pool, Sweetwater Restaurant, casual seasonal dining on the Creekside Terrace, special event pavilion, spa, gym, 14km of walking trails, private beach club, 10 room Nantucket style boutique inn, 5 private cottages; and a growing residential community.
Job purpose
As a Dining Room Server at Cobble Beach, you are responsible for the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. You must possess expertise on all food and beverage offerings within the establishment. You will be expected to present yourself in a professional manner, reflecting the upscale environment of your workplace. Special attention should be paid to providing an exceptional customer experience during all steps of service as well as maintaining a team atmosphere with your peers on both the service and culinary teams to achieve your common goal.
Duties and responsibilities
- Learn all details of menu and anticipate questions that may be asked
- Learn wine & cocktail lists
- Follow all steps of service
- Ensure guest satisfaction
- Create and build relationships with members
- Professionally deal with complaints or dissatisfied guests
- Ability to serve events such as weddings and dinner parties
- Maintain a clean & tidy workplace
- Bartending – understanding of cocktail list & popular cocktails
- Ability to recommend menu items; having knowledge of flavours and composition
- Ability to recommend wines & cocktails; understanding flavour profiles
- Stock, organize, clean work stations
- Answer phone & taking reservations through Opentable
- Understanding of Cobble Beach Resort as a whole
- Identify and take advantage of opportunities to up-sell
Qualifications
- Smart Serve Certification
- 1-3 years serving experience
- Food and wine knowledge an asset
- Experience with OpenTable & Jonas software an asset
Working conditions
This position requires you to be available anytime the restaurant is open. This includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Banquets and special occasions. This position can require long hours and will include working on holidays.
