Job Purpose
This role is a hybrid role blending the role of housekeeping and a front desk agent.
Our Front Desk is the primary contact for overnight guests, beginning at the booking process and continuing to their in-house & post-stay experience. Additionally, we act as a concierge for the resort overall, answering and directing inquiries. The Housekeeping Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and servicing assigned rooms or areas according to established standards and procedures. Our goal is to provide our guests a ‘home away from home’ atmosphere, including living up to their high expectations of cleanliness
Duties & Responsibilities
- Daily customer service relating to Front Desk operation including check ins, check outs, assisting in-house guests, and assisting members & residents of Cobble Beach.
- Input, edit or cancel reservations from multiple booking channels, coordinating golf, spa, event, and dining components where applicable.
- Handle & process cash, debit & credit card payments as they relate to Front Desk.
- Coordinate with housekeeping to prioritize the cleaning of Inn rooms & cottages.
- Interact with & offer advice to guests on resort-specific information, as well as the local attractions, driving directions, and events. Be curious and take the time to learn new information as it pertains to positive guest experience.
- Respond to telephone and email inquiries in a timely & professional manner, transferring calls or forwarding emails to other departments when appropriate.
- Maintain a clean and presentable lobby & front desk, to provide a welcoming environment for guests.
- Clean and arrange guest rooms to hotel standards for guest arrival
- Clean and maintain common areas of the hotel
- Perform laundry duties as necessary
- Stock and maintain housekeeping supply rooms
- Ensure a high level of customer service is performed at all times
- Assist guests with requests and questions as necessary
- Report any damages or repairs needed to management
- Report all lost and found items to the Housekeeping Manager
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- A willing team player and with the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced working environment with strong organizational skills.
- Exceptional email and telephone etiquette
- Experience handling cash, credit card information and collecting payments.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance based upon a required dress code.
- Must be personable and interact with guests and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Prior experience working with Excel, Outlook, Word, and multi-line telephone systems.
- Proficient verbal, comprehension, and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of employment punctuality & reliability.
- Previous work experience in an administrative or hotel front desk position is an asset.
- Ability to safely use chemicals and cleaning supplies in the workplace
- Certificate or Degree in Hotel Operations or related field is an asset.
Working Conditions
The Front Desk is open from 7am to 9pm seven days a week during Peak Season, with reduced hours in the Low Season. Shifts are generally 5-8 hours in length, with a half hour break where applicable. This position requires an extended period of standing in an office setting.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move heavy items, up to 35 lbs individually or 50 lbs in tandem lift.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
