Job Description
Under the direction of the Registered Staff, the Personal Support Assistant is responsible and accountable for providing optimum services in the provision of activities of daily living, dining services, comfort and companionship to promote the quality of life and well-being of each individual resident. This support role involves core responsibilities across four main areas: providing Resident Support (daily comfort, activity and meal assistance, and lifting), meticulous Documentation and Communication (accurate record-keeping and reporting concerns), maintaining Environment and Safety (cleanliness, infection control, and safe food handling), and ensuring Compliance and Professionalism (adhering to safety regulations, participating in training, and positive interactions).
We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:

Secondary School Diploma preferred.

Experience in customer service or working with seniors preferred

Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team

Ability to model the warmth of human connection in communicating with residents, families, and visitors

Sensitive and empathetic to the needs of others

Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education

Must be computer literate
-
Effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing

Successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening requirements as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, ss. 81 (2) and Ontario Regulation ss. 252 (1).

The new 160-bed home will be built on the existing site of Southampton Care Centre and
will feature design improvements, including larger resident common areas and air conditioning throughout the home. The design is centred around five ‘resident home areas’, each of which creates a more intimate and familiar living space with dining and activity areas, lounges and bedrooms for up to 32 residents. The redevelopment of Southampton Care Centre is expected to be completed and welcoming its first residents by spring 2026.
