Job Description
Under the direction of the Co-Director of Care, the Personal Support Worker is an integral part of the health care team, and in this role, encourages, supports and promotes independence for the residents by assisting with activities of daily living.
The Personal Support Worker is responsible for a comprehensive range of duties encompassing resident care, interdisciplinary collaboration, adherence to organizational policies, and the maintenance of a safe environment. Core responsibilities involve provision of direct patient care, diligent observation and timely reporting of changes in health status, and accurate completion of all required documentation.
We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:

Must have successfully completed a personal support work program that meets the requirements in subsection 52. (2) of the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 and Ontario Regulation ss. 246/22; and provides proof of graduation issued by the education provider

Candidates are also considered who are enrolled in a RN or RPN program in Ontario

Experience in Long Term Care (Gerontology) setting is an asset

Ensures all Ministry of Long Term Care requirements are met

Must demonstrate good communication skills

Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education

Displays a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members

Understands the demands and rewards of the role

Must be computer literate

The new 160-bed home will be built on the existing site of Southampton Care Centre and
will feature design improvements, including larger resident common areas and air conditioning throughout the home. The design is centred around five ‘resident home areas’, each of which creates a more intimate and familiar living space with dining and activity areas, lounges and bedrooms for up to 32 residents. The redevelopment of Southampton Care Centre is expected to be completed and welcoming its first residents by spring 2026.
