Job Description

Our client, M’Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre, is seeking an experienced Part-Time Receptionist for a casual on-call role at their new facility located in Owen Sound, ON. This role would be scheduled on a semi-frequent basis to cover vacation, sick leave and other various fill-ins. Wage starts at $20.00 per hour.

About The Company

The M’Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre officially opened its doors to the community in June 2001, driven by a grassroots initiative comprised of a core group of 50 Indigenous community members from Owen Sound. The Centre was established to address the social, spiritual, mental, and physical needs of the Urban Indigenous population of Owen Sound and surrounding areas.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greeting, Assisting & Responding Appropriately to Visitors
  • Answer Incoming Telephone Calls & Provide Appropriate Response or Redirection to Appropriate Staff
  • Open, Sort, Log & Distribute Internal & External Email to Various Departments
  • Receive & Enter Data
  • Modify, Process & Compile Information
  • Maintain Office Records & Files – Both Physical & Electronic
  • Provide Administrative Support for Special Projects as Required
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Experience Working in an Office or Similar Setting
  • Ability & Comfort Using Computer Systems (Microsoft Suite, Outlook, etc.)
  • Privacy & Confidentiality Regarding Working with Various At-Risk Communities
  • Understanding of Indigenous Cultures & Practices Considered an Asset

 

This role would be a great fit for candidates with experience in administration, reception, project management, office management, retail, sales, or customer service.
