Hours: 28 to 37.5 hours per week, dependent on government funding
Shifts: Days, Monday – Friday; Evenings and weekends as needed
Salary/Wage: $27.23 – $30.97 per hour
Wages commensurate with qualifications and experience.

As a charity igniting the potential in people, we are seeking a Settlement Worker in Schools to join our Settlement Services team.
Responsibilities:
- Commitment to excellent customer service while demonstrating the YMCA Mission, Vision and Values when interacting with others.
- Provide Settlement Services in schools following IRCC guidelines, traveling to locations throughout Grey and Bruce on a flexible schedule to meet clients’ needs, including evenings and weekends.
- Comfortable in providing in-person and virtual support.
- Participate in the school reception and orientation process for Newcomer students and their families.
- Assist the school with initiating contact with all Newcomer families.
- Provide orientation sessions on programs and services available in both the school and the surrounding community.
- Provide cultural background information to the school staff as needed.
- Inform and orient families and students about the educational system in the Canadian context.
- Facilitate referrals and access to available resources in the community, social services, professional services, outreach and government programs.
- Actively participate in the development and presentation of cultural profiles, workshops and settlement related activities for students, families and schools.

Job Requirements:
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Have current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than ninety (90) days preceding your start date.
- Have minimum Class G Driver’s License; own vehicle and be willing and able to travel throughout Grey and Bruce Counties.
- Provide 3 professional references.
- Have a post secondary degree or diploma in counselling, education, social work or human resources discipline
- Have a fluency in an additional language (an asset)
- Have proficiency in digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet in order to provide virtual/remote service.
- Have experience working in a cross-cultural environment delivering direct service to newcomers (an asset).
- Have strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills.
- Have highly developed research skills and ability to interpret complex documentation and applications.
- Be self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Have good computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office applications, virtual classrooms, internet and email.
