As a charity igniting the potential in people, we are seeking an Employment Retention Worker who will engage clients who have gained employment through creative and client-centred approaches that support the clients to remain employed, ensuring they reach their employment milestones and checkpoints. This position collaborates with the client to obtain required documentation and assists the client in navigating workplace concerns or issues. Tracking data and attention to detail are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide services in a manner that is consistent with the values outlined in the Program Guidelines and the YMCA mission and vison, including: hope; client centered; inclusive and accessible; collaboration; and accountability.
  • Meet client Volume Commitments and Key Performance Indicators set out by manager on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Effectively communicate and relationship-build to maintain positive interactions with clients who have moved into the outcome phase of employment services.
  • Stay connected with each client that has been outcomed, provide a continued warm and welcoming, supportive approach.
  • Update and enter data into a case management system – ensure professional and timely case notes.
  • Problem solves and work through potential concerns and challenges that clients may have related to workplace discrepancies, and life stabilization.
  • Focus on helping clients remain engaged and satisfied in their roles, providing information, referrals, and support.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of required documents, identify and address discrepancies or issues promptly.
  • Assist clients with obtaining proof of employment as needed and upload employment verification documentation into designated systems ensuring accuracy in required information.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to streamline the verification process.
  • Ability to be able to read and analyze various pay stubs and ensure they meet the requirements of the funder.
  • Communicate with Employment Services team, to provide updates on any clients requiring additional support from Employment Services or Social Assistance
  • Provide referrals to local agencies to support clients in life stabilization, maintaining employment or to enhance employability skills.
  • Work closely with Data Integrity Worker and ES Managers to review data and Performance Based Funding
  • Support employed clients to maintain their employment through 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12-month follow-up, enter and collect the required information.
  • Provide monthly client success stories to the employment services Managers.
  • Stay current on work processes, and work towards continuous improvement in processes.
  • Communicate and share information based off common themes and trends from clients and help develop and implement effective tools to enhance client supports.
  • Position will require non-traditional work hours.
  • Ensure the positive promotion of the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce, its programs, and the image of the people we serve.
  • Ensure that personal expertise and knowledge are kept current, applicable to changes in program direction, and relevant to the responsibilities of the position
  • Participate in all prescribed Child Safeguarding trainings.
  • Report any and all program issues and concerns and recommending changes in policies/procedures to Supervisor
  • Handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations
  • Contribute to an overall cooperative team approach within the Association

Job Requirements:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Have current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than ninety (90) days preceding your start date.
  • Have minimum Class G Driver’s License; own vehicle and be willing and able to travel throughout Grey and Bruce Counties.
  • Provide 3 professional references.
  • Have post-secondary degree or diploma in social services or related field plus related business administration work experience; with the ability to read and understand pay advices, read and create/maintain numerical reports, etc.
  • Have familiarity with government employment programs.
  • Have an understanding of the local labour market.
  • Have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and applications with advanced skills in Word and Excel. Experience with Adobe considered an asset.
  • Have close attention to detail and high standards for service quality provision and documentation.
  • Have ability to work independently with minimal supervision and is disciplined in setting priorities and outcomes.
  • Have ability to problem solve, recognize and react quickly to issues/concerns, multitask, and maintain a high degree of organization.
  • Have ability to work in busy and/or noisy environment.
