LOCATION: OWEN SOUND (2nd SITE SOUTHAMPTON)
UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – SERVICE
STATUS: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE MARCH 2026)
WAGE RATE: $34.209 – $35.022

Reporting to the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Supervisor, the Painter maintains and installs various types of wall coverings, flooring, and other surfaces throughout the hospital facilities, according to policies, procedures, legislated codes and regulations, to support a functional, reliable, safe and comfortable health care environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Ontario Trade Certificate of Qualification as a Painter and Decorator-Commercial and Residential, or approved equivalent education and experience.
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years recent experience as a Painter
  • General knowledge of other building trades and the ability to work with hand and power tools
  • Ability and willingness to continually upgrade technical skills
  • Experienced and comfortable with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work from oral or written instruction under minimum supervision
  • Ability to process own computer based work orders and maintenance reports
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision making and customer service skills
  • Ability to process own computer based work orders and maintenance reports

  • Committed to Health and Safety programs and continuous quality improvement
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work load
  • Available for overtime, on call, weekends, and flexibility in hours of work
  • Available to work from two home sites on a regular basis, as required
  • Valid Driver’s License and use of vehicle to travel to other Hospital sites as required
  • Ability to wear prescribed personal protective equipment, perform physical indoor and outdoor tasks, work at elevated heights and restricted/confined spaces
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
