Job Description

Reporting to the Home and Community Care Administrator, the Community Support Services (CSS) Cook is responsible for daily operations of the Community Support Services congregate dining room. This includes planning, shopping, preparing, cooking and serving healthy nutritious meals to Community Members participating in the Home and Community Care Congregate Dining Program. In conjunction with a Health Professional, the Community Support Services Cook ensures weekly menus are prepared and served in accordance with Safe Food Handling policy. The Community Support Services Cook is also responsible for setting up the dining area, ensuring meals are delivered to Clients on as needed basis, ensuring that the Dining Room and Kitchen areas are cleaned/sanitized, laundry and other duties.

  • Completion of an accredited Cooking Program OR three (3) years’ experience in a commercial cooking role
  • Safe Food Handling certificate
  • Knowledge of small commercial kitchen operations
  • Experience or ability to maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
  • Knowledge of health issues prevalent to First Nations
  • Physically fit for long periods of standing, moving, and carrying packages up to 10lbs
  • Valid Class G Driver’s Licence and access to reliable transportation
  • Time Management and Problem Solving Skills
  • Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.
