Conditioning Centre & Free Weight Room Guidelines

Age Restrictions

Members must be age 16 or over to use the Conditioning Centre. Please refer to our etiquette statement. Teens aged 12-15 may use the rooms upon successful completion of our Teen Weight Training Course. View the Program Schedule for course information.

Orientations

All members are encouraged to make an appointment with one of our qualified fitness staff to receive a FREE orientation to our equipment and get started on a personalized program. Fitness staff take into account your medical history and help you set realistic, achievable goals

Change Rooms

Day use lockers are available for use in all of the Family Y change rooms. Please lock up your belongings. Locks may be purchased from the Membership Services Desk. Locks will be cut off nightly. Do not leave your keys in a coat pocket unattended. The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.

Personal Training Cancellations

When you schedule a session with us, we reserve that block of time especially for you. We recognize that your time is valuable, as is ours. We require 24 hours advance notice to cancel or reschedule a session. If you cancel, reschedule or miss your appointment without providing 24 hours’ notice, the scheduled session will be deducted from your purchased personal training package. We understand that emergencies do occur. You may cancel or reschedule a session for emergency reasons up to 2 times a year by giving us a minimum of 3-hour notice. Cardio Equipment Usage

To ensure all members have fair access to equipment, a 20 minute limit per person is applied to the use of cardio equipment during peak times.

Weight Training Equipment

Please be considerate to fellow members by not staying on equipment between sets. Allow other people to work through. When others are waiting to use strength training equipment, offer to share between sets.

Cleaning Equipment

To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and safety for everyone, whether it is weights, cardio equipment or mats, please use the spray and cloths provided to clean equipment after use. Spray the cleaner on the cloth and then clean the equipment.

Free Weight Area

It is imperative that after you use the weights, you return them to the rack. This ensures that the room is ready for everyone else to workout.
